ACL, PCL or Meniscal Repair Surgery is most common amongst sportspersons. This surgery is done using an arthroscope where the surgeon repairs the injured anterior cruciate ligament, posterior cruciate ligament or the meniscal ligament. In arthroscopic surgery no incisions are required and the surgeon makes 3 small holes to do the surgery. Post surgery these small holes are sutured or staplers are applied . The surgery is minimally invasive and results in quick recovery. The patient is mostly discharged from the hospital on the same day or on the next day. Arthroscopic surgery requires a special equipment called Arthroscope which has a very high resolution camera, LED Light Source and very fine surgical instruments.
Most of the Meniscal Repair surgeries do not require any implant and in such cases the cost of the surgery is USD 2500-2800. However if implant is required then the cost rises to USD 3000-3500. The ACL / PCL repair surgery usually costs in the range of USD 3000 - 3500. The surgery package includes all the hospital expenses and includes stay at the hospital for 1-2 days. The package however does not include the cost of rehabilitation which is required after the surgery. Rehab for about 15 days would be costing USD 500. The patient has to stay in India for a total period of 7-10 days including the stay in the hospital. The cost of stay in a hotel is around USD 50 for two people to stay in a single AC room including breakfast.
For any Joint Surgery, post surgery rehab is extremely important. The surgeon might have done a perfect job but if proper physiotherapy is not done after the surgery then the results would not be as good. We give special emphasis on post surgery rehabilitation. Our team of physiotherapists start working with you while you are admitted at the hospital and continue to provide the rehab services once you are discharged from the hospital and move to the hotel or the guest house. You are allowed to drive car after 45 days and can start training for the sport that you play after 3-4 months of the surgery. Full strength training can start after 5-6 months of the surgery.
